Dr. Jeff Shaw
Cardiologist
Dr. Jeff Shaw is a cardiologist specializing in advanced echocardiography, critical care medicine, and critical care cardiology at the University of Calgary.
Dr. Shaw completed internal medicine, cardiology, and critical care medicine residencies at the University of Calgary, where he was Chief Cardiology Resident. He completed fellowship training in Advanced Echocardiography at the University of Calgary.
Dr. Shaw’s research is published in national peer-reviewed scientific journals. He is President and Founder of Pandemic Solutions, a software company that allows businesses to safely operate during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family of four, ideally on a ski slope.

Dr. Nathan Leader
Cardiologist
Dr. Nathan Leader is a Cardiologist specializing in Advanced Echocardiography at the University of Calgary. He has special interests in Preventative Cardiology and Sports Cardiology

Dr. Leader completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Toronto. He then completed his Cardiology and Advanced Echocardiography fellowship at the University of Calgary. He served as the Chief Cardiology Resident in his final year.
Dr. Leader’s research interests include wearable technology (e.g. Apple Watch and AliveCor) and it’s integration in the care of cardiac patients. He has presented this research at national cardiology conferences.
Outside of work he enjoys cycling, hiking and spending time with his wife and twin boys.

Dr. Omid Kiamanesh
Cardiologist
Dr. Omid Kiamanesh is an academic transplant cardiologist specializing in advanced heart failure, echocardiography, and genetic cardiomyopathies. As Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary and Director of the Broderick Cardiomyopathy Program, he has pioneered care delivery models bridging genomic medicine and cardiovascular practice.
Dr. Kiamanesh founded and directs the Broderick Genetic Cardiomyopathy Clinic and Broderick Cardiac Neuromuscular Clinic at the Peter Lougheed Centre, serving over 1,000 patients across Southern Alberta. These nationally recognized programs integrate genetic counsellors directly into cardiology practice, improving access to specialized genetic services.
His research focuses on implementation science and health service innovation in genetic cardiovascular disease. As principal or co-investigator, he has secured over $4.5 million in competitive funding from CIHR, Genome BC/Alberta, and other partners. Dr. Kiamanesh has authored more than 34 peer-reviewed publications and serves as a reviewer for leading cardiovascular journals.
He received the 2025 Department of Medicine Ectopic Excellence in Teaching Award and serves on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Society of Echocardiography and Calgary Health Foundation.
Dr. Kiamanesh completed his medical degree and cardiology training at the University of British Columbia, followed by subspecialty fellowships in Heart Failure and Advanced Echocardiography at Toronto General Hospital and the University of Calgary.
